Caring for the woodlands we call home

New England Woods Life

Our Natural Spaces

A familiar birdcall along the trail. A turtle disappearing into the leaves. The shade of an oak that was here long before our houses.

Our natural spaces are part of everyday life in New England Woods. They give our neighborhood its character and provide a home for wildlife, room for discovery, and a welcome place to slow down.

Caring for them takes attention. Invasive plants, storm damage, erosion, and the loss of native vegetation all give us work to do. It starts with understanding what’s here, noticing what’s changing, and making thoughtful decisions about what comes next.

Explore the woods with us, follow our conservation and restoration efforts, and find a way to lend a hand.

The Invasive Species War

Some of the greenery around us is crowding out the plants our woodlands need. Get to know the invasive species we’re watching, learn how to distinguish them from native plants, and follow our organized efforts to bring them under control.

● Health & Safety

Health Center

Our fully-equipped health center sits right at the heart of camp, staffed 24/7 by warm, knowledgeable registered nurses. From bug bites to the common cold, they’re here to keep campers feeling their best. We safely store and dispense all camper medications, and for anything beyond routine care, a hospital is just a short drive away.

Activities

Life at Camp Bennie doesn’t stop when class is over. Afternoons might mean paddling across the lake in a kayak, hiking wooded trails, or joining a game of soccer on the field. Evenings bring campfires under the stars, movie nights, and the kind of easy laughter that comes with being outdoors together. These moments balance the creative work in the studios, giving campers a full summer of adventure, connection, and play.
