Join your New England Woods neighbors for our 2nd Annual Veterans Day Ruck Walk, a community walk honoring the veterans, service members and military families who are part of our neighborhood and our lives.
A “ruck” simply means walking while carrying a backpack, a tradition with military roots. But this is not a race or endurance challenge.
Carry a weighted backpack if you’d like. Carry an empty one. Or skip the backpack entirely and simply come walk with us.
Kids, families, strollers and friendly dogs are welcome.
Who Are You Rucking For?
Participants are invited to walk in honor or memory of a veteran or service member who has made a difference in their lives.
It might be a parent, grandparent, spouse, neighbor, friend or someone whose service you simply want to remember.
And we especially hope our New England Woods veterans will join us. This walk is for you.
After the Walk
Stick around afterward for a casual neighborhood potluck and a chance to spend some time together.
Bring a dish to share if you can. Coming empty handed is also perfectly acceptable. Your neighbors are unlikely to let anyone go hungry.
What to Bring
• Comfortable walking shoes
• A backpack or ruck if you’d like to carry one
• Flashlight, headlamp or lantern
• Weather appropriate clothing
• Water
• A potluck dish to share, if desired
Because November evenings arrive early, please bring a light so everyone can make their way home safely after the walk and gathering.
Everyone Is Welcome
You do not need to be a veteran, have a military connection or carry weight to participate.
Come to walk. Come to remember. Come to support our veterans. Or simply come spend an evening with your neighbors.
No backpack required. No speed requirement. Just neighbors walking together in gratitude.
